Today was slightly adventure filled. After the know-little cable guys had come by, I figured my way down to the church. It is about two miles south of the apartment. I can pick up the Boyoca pretty easy. There aren't really freeways around here so much as high speed roads and low speed roads. Boyoca is a high speed road, but the human life is a little more wild here, so trying to cross this "freeway" is a normal, if dangersque occurrence.
I finally picked up a taxi after a couple miles and made my way down to church. Met Vincent who accompanied me to get blood drawn for my cedula and for the driver's license. Nelson is a butcher who also is a car pro. He has been looking for the past couple days to find me a car
that I could buy. We went to look at a car that had been advertized as an high occupancy Toyota, but was in fact a Nissan. A couple blocks later we found the same land cruiser that the church owns but one year younger. We test drove the behemoth, but the brakes weren't going to work for how I drive.
A guy whose name is Mauricio and came out of the program transported us around town. We dropped off Nelson and made our way north to the DAS offices where I was to obtain my cedula. We raced (relative term at five miles per hour) to the bank to pay, then to a Kinkos type place to get a photo and photocopies. These services are usually in the DAS offices but the guys who take care of that weren't in.

Ok the maid just showed up. This place is slightly disasterous as I have no furnishings, thus my stuff is just lying about for the most part. I understand now why Mary cleans before Leuckie shows up. Gotta get some furniture.

We made it home at about 5 after which I walked to the grocery store nearby. Mauro Bunch accompanied me thankfully, as there are a few things which I had no idea about. For instance, using a debit card here, they ask when you'd like to have it charged. You can tell them 1-12 which indicates a time period of months. It's like having credit for your credit. Weird.
Nelson was at the house when we got back. He told me about a few more options he'll be looking into today for the car and I found out that Beatriz had been pick-pocketed downtown. Pretty lousy. Nelson drove me down to church to hang out with the praise band. They are rockin' I kid you not. The musicians they have are so talented and as an ensemble...WOW, I was ultra-jealous, totally swooped away by a pterydactyl...or raven. Hung out with these kings of music for too long and tried to catch a bus home. A bunch of the guys travelled with me to the stop as the wrong bus could send me the wrong way quickly. I ended up missing my stop.
There aren't any real stops, you just hit the button and the bus stops pretty immediately. It's almost as bad as the Knight Bus. I missed my street and got off at the other side of the park. I jogged home for the safety of it and made it home at about 11ish.

Pretty sweet day all around I must say.
